Do Good By Grandmother and Mother Nature in Glen Ellyn on Grandparent’s Day

Grandparent’s Day is September 8th and the best way to celebrate is to spend it outdoors.

The Glen Ellyn Park District is hosting a Grandparent’s Day celebration which involves getting your hands dirty, becoming one with nature.

Grandma and Grandpa can join their grandchildren at Ackerman Park from 1 – 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 8th near the trailhead into the woods along the park entrance road.

Make sure to bring your shovel and work gloves, because Granny, you are planting a tree! Small Oak Trees will be provided to guests to plant. There is no need to pre-register for this free event.

What an incredible way to celebrate Grandparent’s Day!

I remember being a child planting a tree in front of our home with my parents. Now, almost 30 years later, I still travel back to the ‘old house’ to see how big the tree is.

I imagine your children will visit the tree for many years to come and look back on the memories they had with their grandparents planting it on a very special day.
