Dunkin’ Donuts is offering the perfect stay inside sweet treat activity, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
I’ve heard of the coveted DIY Donut Kits at Dunkin’ Donuts but I’ve never actually seen one in real life. It seemed like such a mystery to me! I’ve never seen it on the menu, but reading other blogs I’ve vaguely remembered seeing something about it around different holidays.
I don’t know what sparked my memory this morning, less than a week from Valentine’s Day in 4 degree weather, but something did and boy am I glad it did!
I jumped in my freezing car this morning and headed to my local Dunkin’ Donuts. I visited the location on North Ave. in Glen Ellyn. While I waited in line for the car ahead of me to order, I frantically searched the menu high and low for a make your own donut kit… nothing. I checked my DD Perks app… nothing. I mustered up the courage to ask, assuming they would have zero clue what I was talking about.
“May I please have a DIY Donut Kit?”
“Sure! Would you like 4 Glazed or Old Fashion?”
I just about screamed with excitement right there. I paid for my order, got the donut kit and headed home.
Once I got home, my 4-year-old daughter and I broke into the orange and pink donut box. Inside were 4 glazed donuts, individual containers of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry frosting and pink sprinkles. The included plastic knives made it extremely simple to frost the donuts. The frosting was the perfect consistency for quick and easy application.
We had an excellent time decorating (and eating) the donuts! With the price of $5.99, it was a perfect morning activity I’d gladly do again.
It’s definitely worth an ask at your local Dunkin’ to bring the DIY Kit home!
