Your kids are spending all of their time playing Fortnite anyways.
Game in The Name is hosting a Back To School Fortnite Tournament that will be held at NIU Naperville’s Esports Lounge on September 14th. Before you run to check your calendar, it’s a Saturday. So don’t worry, it’s not on a school night.
The NIU Naperville Esports Lounge is located at 1120 East Diehl Road in Naperville.
If you’re hip to how gaming tournaments work, you’ll understand this. If not, no worries. Your kids can fill you in.
The bracket will be double elimination. This ensures that each player will be able to play a minimum of two games. Winners will progress through the winners bracket. Losers will try to redeem themselves in the loser’s bracket. The tournament will be played on Xbox One consoles with their own personal monitor, gaming chair and gaming headset.
While your child is not playing in the tournament, they can wait their turn and watch the other players’ games on smart TVs that will be live-streaming the action in various areas around the lounge.
According to the Facebook event page, there’s big money for top prizes, too!
- 1st Place : $150
- 2nd Place: $100
- 3rd Place: $50
Plus, there will be other prizes like $150 in gift cards, Gaming Headsets and Fun Attraction Vouchers. Everyone who participates is guaranteed at least one prize!
The event does run from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. which is smack dab in the middle of dinner time. (Nothing to worry about, Mom.) There will be FREE food, drink and snacks the entire time!
